Let the Madness Begin
A super sized post since I know I will busy for the next few days.
Hopefully Dillon gets his musical talent from his mom, not his dad.
Two weeks ago it snowed. Dillon wasn't too sure about it.

Here is an article on the next generation of animation in video games, with some sweet video to go with it. I have downloaded the trial version of NBA 2K7 on my PS3 and I can say the in game animation is unbelievable. However, the close up shots of the players are not quite as good as I thought they would be.

My Final Four picks: Florida over UCLA and Texas over Texas A&m with Florida defending last year's National Championship over Kevin Durant and the Longhorns.

Finally, work has been very hectic the last month. Our director has retired after 30 years of working for the county. He was the person that recruited me and believed that despite my age could become apart of the senior management team. He also was a very easy going boss, loved the Dodgers and Lakers, and talked tons of smack during March Madness. I wish him the best of luck during retirement.

Congrats
I should have posted this sooner but I have not been able to get online at home because my internet was down.
On Friday, February 23, 2007 Kaleb Daniel Morgan came into this world. He put his mom through a very long labor but we were all very happy to see his cute little face.
Kaleb only minutes old.
One proud grandpa.
Unfortunately, the hospital ran out of blankets so we had to pull something out of the trash to keep Kaleb warm.
Soon Kaleb will be able to join his sister and cousin in "hamming it up" for the camera.
Update: I wish I would have seen this sooner because I would have tried to talk Jennifer out of using the name Kaleb and have her go with Yourhighness Morgan.

Procrastination
Here are a few pictures of Dillon as I put off some of the work I have brought home to finish over the weekend.
One of my favorites left over from Christmas.
I know the Lakers just lost a heartbreaker of a game to the Spurs today, but this picture still puts a smile on my face.
Dillon sure loves his bath time. It often turns a fussy baby into a happy baby.
Dillon has started eating more than just milk. He loves yogurt, mashed potatoes, and bananas.

Budget Time
I really need to stop posting once every two or three weeks. A lot has gone on since the calendar has turned to 2007. For one, work has gotten extremely busy. Starting in January budget season begins and doesn't end until May. The counties in California run on a fiscal year starting July 1 and ending June 30.
Our county has mid-year budgets, meaning we use actual expenses for the first half of the year to budget for the rest of the year. Once mid-year is over, we have a brief break until year-end budgets are due. Year-end budgets use the first three quarters of our fiscal year to predict how we will finish the year. Once year-end budgets are done we turn our attention to the upcoming fiscal year, known as proposed budgets. The proposed budgets are usually the most time consuming because we are trying to predict a full year's worth of revenues and expenses.
The next exciting thing to happen was my cousin Eric's visit to Sonora last weekend. I've mentioned here before that he is an excellent ping ponger and always played the Yankees to my Red Sox (pre 2004 of course). Before his arrival I was confident I would be able to prevail due to my recently acquired ping pong table. Boy was I wrong. Eric served me a nice plate of humility, winning 11 of the first 12 games. I will note that by Monday, he only won three of five.
One sad thing that happened to us was James and Michelle going back to the Bay Area. We had a bunch of fun while they were here and are deeply saddened they will not be around as much.
And finally, I bought a new toy. On Monday we went to Modesto to spend our Christmas gift cards. While walking through the electronics department in Target I stumbled upon the 60G PlayStation 3. Ever since the release date I wanted to get a PS3 but knew I would have to wait until spring time, when production would catch up with demand, to buy one. Thankfully there was one left for me. Of course Christina was not happy I spent the money, even though it fit into our personal budget.
Just so you know, I am making a conscious effort to up my blogging energy in an attempt to keep everyone from looking at the same old pictures of Dillon.

As Promised

Aunt Jennifer couldn't wait until Christmas for Dillon to open his present, so he opened it Thursday night. Cousin Taylor had to help since Dillon couldn't quite rip open the wrapping paper by himself.
Obviously, Dillon was the best present Christina and I received all year.
Now Dillon can help Grandpa Mike with his remodels.

Post Christmas Update
It has been a crazy week. Between a trip down to Shafter, celebrating four different Christmas's (Christmi?), and a random get together in Sonora I have been neglecting the blog. Here are some random updates on my life.

I found out last week that the California Board of Accountancy has accepted me as a CPA. After months of studying and traveling to Sacramento to take four hour tests I know have the privilage of putting three additional letters after my signature. By the way, I still will have to wait up to six months before I get my wall certificate so you will have to take my word for it that I truely am a CPA.

You may notice labels at the end of all the posts on the blog. This is because I finally updated to the new version of Blogger. Every post should have a tag to make searching the blog easier. For example, clicking on a the label "Dillon" will give all the posts that mention Dillon.

Over the Christmas weekend I received a lot of flack from relatives about any post not featuring pictures of Dillon. I was told no one cares about my other interests in life. Of course this came from the person whose idol is Jimmy Buffett, so I take his parrot-head comments with a grain of salt.

Weekday Update
I noticed it has been awhile since my last post. The reason can be summed up in two words: Jack Bauer. I figured everyone is waiting for a Dillon update so I better provide one before there is a mutiny. The little guy is now sitting up on his own. He also is rolling all over the place and could be crawling by Christmas. Below are some new pictures.
Dillon all bundled up for his first Christmas parade held in downtown Sonora. Unfortunately, loud noises, cold weather, and babies do not mix.
This picture was taken on his half birthday. It is hard to imagine that six months ago we were in the hospital waiting to meet him.

A clean diaper always brings happiness.
Dad, not much longer and I will be able to beat Uncle James and Cousin Eric in ping pong just like you.

Slacker
So it's been a while since my last post. I have many reasons for the long layoff (playing with Dillon, watching tv, traveling to Shafter because no one wants to come to Sonora, etc) but the main reason is because I just didn't feel like it. Call me a loser or slacker, but hey it's my blog and I do what I want. Anyways, here are some new pics of Dillon.
