Into the Wild

Tomorrow night Mike, James and I get on a plane headed for Alaska. This "guys only" trip will be spent in Palmer, Alaska visiting Christina's Aunt Lenny and Uncle Larry. The plan is to hang out with them for a few days then Uncle Larry will take us out on his boat to do some fishing. James and I might also be taking a side tour of Denali National Park one day. Our return back to California will be Sunday, August 3rd.

Pictures will follow throughout the week if I can find a wi-fi hot spot.

Cutting out the Middle Man

For some time now, Dillon has played a game with me every time I eject a DVD from the PS3. I will hit the eject button from the remote and he will try to beat me to the PS3, always pretending to grab the DVD. He knows he will go in timeout if he touches the DVD so he always stops short. He laughs, watches me put the movie up, then begs for Elmo or Bob the Builder. Most of the time I say no, he cries, then runs to mom.

On Monday he took matters into his own hands. Dillon was finishing up the end of Cars and the credits were rolling as Christina walked out of the room. When she re-entered the living room Dillon was sitting on the floor watching Elmo. He had pushed the eject button on the PS3, put the Cars DVD back into the right box, climbed onto the couch, retrieved the Elmo DVD box from on top of the DVD cabinet, opened the box and put the Elmo DVD correctly into the PS3 in less than three minutes.

At this rate he will be ordering his own movies from Netflix by the time Baby Nixon arrives.

Potty Train-ing

The time has come to start transitioning Dillon out of diapers. Christina started doing this a couple of months ago by bribing Dillon with a "num-num" (aka Gummy Lifesaver) any time he did his business on the toilet before a bath. The new incentive is allowing Dillon to wear his Thomas the Train underwear.

He will take any opportunity to model his big boy underwear.

Anything to do with trains makes Dillon happy.

The other day I opened up one of Dillon's Christmas presents. (I know it is July, but he got so many toys that we were able to hide some so he could enjoy them throughout the year.) He played with the train track for a solid two hours, giving mom and dad a break.

If you look closely you can see his Bob the Builder tool belt behind Dillon. He insisted on helping dad put together the tracks.

Three Months and Counting

With a little less than three months remaining in her pregnancy, Christina had a minor setback. (I know her due date is October 18th, but the doctor has tentatively set her cesarean for October 9th.) Last Friday, Christina came down with the flu. The vomiting from the flu started a vicious chain of vomiting from not being able to eat and not being able to eat because of the constant vomiting. It was flashbacks to her first four months of the pregnancy.

After a weekend of puking every hour, we took her in to the ER for an IV and anti-nausea medicine. She spent the next few days recovering and occasionally vomiting.

In other baby news, our new double stroller came in the mail. It is a gift from Aunt Jenn, Aunt Elease, Grandma Sharon, Grannie Barbara, Aunt Susan and Aunt Lynn. Thank you for being so generous. Below are a couple of pictures.

Sitting in for Baby Nixon is Otis.

Let's hope Dillon shows this kind of love toward his younger brother. If not we will have to create a barrier between the two seats.
