Disneyland Update #1

We have arrived at the self-described "happiest place on Earth." After checking in at our hotel and eating dinner, Connor needed a nap so Dillon and I took a walk to Downtown Disney. After an hour of window shopping, we sat down and watched the fireworks. At one point he turned around and said, "Connor wouldn't like this. It's too loud."

On the way back he told me he had to go pee. We were still two blocks from the hotel and my options were limited:
  1. Try and find a public restroom,
  2. Run back, hoping he doesn't wet himself, or
  3. Drop his shorts and let him relieve himself on the bushes in front of the Sheraton.
We picked the classy option...number 3.

Kids Say the Darndest Things

The other day I was getting Dillon out of his carseat. He had his finger under his nose, as seen in the picture above. We had the following conversation:

Me: Do you have to sneeze?
Dillon: No.
Me:
What's wrong? What are you doing?
Dillon: I have a mus-beard.

Happy Easter

Connor and Dillon enjoying the lovely weather.

Connor and Trent's first Easter.

It is almost impossible to get a good picture of these three boys. The three of them smile all the time, but put them together and the smiles stop.

Brotherly Love

Here is the reason why we can't leave Dillon alone in the room with Connor. Notice how Dillon goes from kissing Connor to almost squishing him in seconds. Listen toward the end and you can hear Christina (off camera) having a heart attack.

Bradley Dean Morgan

This morning at 1:44 a.m., Jennifer gave birth to my third nephew. He was 8 pounds 2 ounces and 20 inches long. Congrats! We can't wait to see him.

Family Bus

I never mentioned this on the blog before, but at Christmas James' family came to Sonora. We borrowed our friend's bus to take a trip up the hill to the snow. We had a great time visiting with everyone during the trip. Afterwords, James and I talked about trying to find a vehicle that our whole family could fit in. Now that we have two kids and James and Michelle have one, it was hard to go anywhere without taking two or three cars. We joked about getting a bus like the one we had just taken to the snow.

This week I caught wind of an auction the county was having for old vehicles. On the list was a few old transit buses. I was able to prearrange a meeting to look over the buses before the auction on Saturday (my only perk of being a county employee.) Three of the buses were in excellent condition. The county was having to replace them earlier than planned because of California's emission standards. It didn't take much convincing to get James and Mike on board to the idea of splitting the purchase of one of the buses.

Saturday morning Mike and I showed up at the auction ready to start the bidding process. We staked out the one we liked the best and was hoping no one else wanted it. Turned out someone else did want it so I participated in my first auction bidding war. After a few going back and forth bids, the Cummings, Evans and Nixons became proud owners of a used 2001 transit bus.

Here's the front the bus. We have decided to keep it at the Cummings' house for storage because they have the most room.

The county painted over the logo they have on the side of their buses, leaving us space to put in something clever. If only we were clever enough to come up with slogan or logo.

The bus came with an automated wheelchair lift. We are hoping to take it out and sell it on Ebay or Craigslist to help offset the cost of the bus. Is there a market for used wheelchair lifts?

There are 13 seats on the bus, plus the driver's seat. The seat belts will allow us to properly secure the children's car seats. We also will use it to take visiting family members and friends to the lake, snow, or any other local landmarks.

The bus only has 181,000 miles on it, which is very low for this type of vehicle. Thankfully, the county keeps their fleet well maintained and had just put in a new transmission into this bus.

The Evans are visiting Sonora soon, allowing us to take our bus on it's maiden voyage. Here's to many good times to come.

Pranks

I do enjoy pulling April Fools jokes and some of you may have fallen for my handiwork. But don't feel too bad, I also got a few people at work. This year I copied a blank piece of paper with a paper clip on it. I then placed all the paper clip copies back into the copier so when anyone used it all their copies had a paper clip mark.

I also taped down the receiver button on my staff's phones. When someone called them they would pick up the receiver but the phone would keep ringing.

For my finale, I made two signs that read, "Door broken, please use other door." I then posted the sign to the two doors in our office. However, only one person fell for this because she got so angry she ripped down each sign. Some people just don't have a sense of humor.

The End

It's hard to believe I have had this blog for almost three and a half years. It started with an ambitious idea and will end uneventfully. Those of you who still read this blog have noticed that over the past year the posts have become few and far between. Most of those posts turned into just pictures of the kid. Thank you to everyone who has read the blog over the years. Feel free to leave your overall thoughts of this blog in the comments of this post.

Thank you and farewell.
